2025 National Solar Car Challenge - Solar Reliance

Extracurr - Independent Study

Independent research

I'm developing a reinforcement learning model in MATLAB that autonomously controls a space-based laser to carry out targeted debris removal from low Earth orbit, where the ISS and thousands of active satellites reside. The model interfaces with NASA’s General Mission Analysis Tool (GMAT) to simulate orbital dynamics and identify the most energy-efficient laser configurations for nudging debris objects into lower orbits, where they eventually burn up in Earth’s atmosphere. Through this project, I learned to apply orbital mechanics, laser system concepts, and artificial intelligence to reduce collision risks from orbital debris. My goal is to design an energy-efficient system that combines sustainability with advanced space technologies to make future missions safer and more responsible.

National solar car challenge

I compete in the annual Solar Car Challenge at the Texas Motor Speedway in Dallas. It’s a solar-powered car race for high school students and a chance to combine my passion for engineering and environmental science with a little bit of lighthearted fun. I have helped our Kent School team design, build,  and test two cars for competition, focusing on safety, aerodynamics, and sustainability: Solar Purpose earned 3rd place in the Advanced Division in 2025, and Solar Reliance earned 6th place in the Advanced Classic Division in 2024. Just before the race, I assist the team in passing the 3-day scrutineering process. During the 4-day race, I identify and solve unexpected problems, including adjusting the bolts on the wheels so they no longer interfere with the braking system.

Extracurr - Kent Leadership

Kent Leadership Institute

As a student tour guide, I have led over 30 campus tours for prospective students and their parents. I enjoy presenting all the exceptional opportunities our school has to offer and answering questions. I strive to provide them with a deeper appreciation of our school’s unique learning environment and our strong sense of community where everyone is valued.

I also serve as a Dormitory Leader and Kent Peer Orientation Program Leader. I welcome new students and help them adjust to boarding school. I serve as a mentor, organize dormitory activities, support inclusivity, and assist students with concerns.

Additionally, I'm the Founder & President of the Big Brains Club at Kent School, where we discuss historical and current figures like Napoleon, Elon Musk, and Minamoto no Yoritomo, the first ruling shogun in Japan. We decipher the motivations behind their pivotal decisions. We also explore our own values and motives as people in a complex and evolving society.

Mountain Biking

Varsity SportS

I'm a co-captain of the varsity swim team at Kent School. I received the Coach's Award this year and numerous placed finishes in Founders League and New England Championships. My favorite strokes are butterfly, freestyle, and backstroke.

I'm also co-captain and a Class A racer on the Kent School varsity mountain bike racing team. I race as a member of the Founders League in the mountains of northwest Connecticut and Massachusetts.

KHS OutREACH Day

Community Service

As an associate steward, I help to maintain our town’s public trails by removing trash, clearing fallen branches, ensuring trail markers are visible, removing invasive species, and identifying hazards. I submit weekly reports to keep our community informed on trail conditions.

I also volunteer at the Kent Historical Society as part of Kent School's OutREACH program. I remove invasive plants and litter from walkways and grounds to keep them clean and safe for visitors. I also help restore the natural habitat and spread mulch to prevent the growth of unwanted species.

Extracurr - Trumpet

Trumpet

I play 1st/2nd trumpet in the concert band, jazz band, and wind ensemble at Kent School. Over the years, I have developed technical skills, discipline, and versatility through challenging jazz pieces like “Tank!”
